Experiencing microaggressions can be both hurtful and frustrating, given the fact they can be conveyed unintentionally too.  

If you feel comfortable, consider addressing the person either at that moment or afterward- if you feel safe to do so. You can ask them to clarify their behaviour and explain how it affected you, requesting that they avoid repeating it in the future. 

What has happened is not your fault as you should not have been placed in that situation, and you're not alone. You can access specialist support, if and whenever you feel ready.
